2023 96th Annual Convention

The 96th annual convention of the Democratic Woman's Club was held October 6-7 in Bowling Green, KY. The Warren County Democratic Woman's Club did a wonderful job hosting the event. Friday evening opened with a social event at White Squirrel Brewery, a locally owned venue in the historic Shake Rag District. Saturday's meeting was held at the UAW Hall.

SPEAKERS: Dr. Andrea Abrams, vice president for diversity, inclusion, and equity, Centre College, was our Keynote Speaker. Other guest speakers included Dr. Saundra Ardrey, WKU, Patti Minter, Kentucky Commission for Women, and a special visit from Jacqueline Coleman, Lt. Governor of Kentucky. Michael Bowman, Democratic candidate for State Treasurer, also stopped by.

BUSINESS: During the business part of the convention, proposed bylaw changes were voted on and passed. New officers were elected (or re-elected): Yvette Blaha was elected as Second Vice President, Cathy Barnett was elected as Third Vice President, Barbara Montgomery-Pollock was elected as Recording Secretary, Diane Wood was re-elected as auditor, and Virginia Johnson was re-elected as Second Member at Large.

Butler County won the digital scrapbook competition, with Pulaski County in second place.

Boone County offered to host the spring 2024 meeting of the Democratic Woman's Club of Kentucky.
